10+ FREE Lovely Cute Disney Moana Princess Birthday Invitation (Editable Canva)

If your little one loves Moana, you probably already know that a normal birthday party isnt going to cut it.

They want the ocean.

They want flowers.

They want Maui.

They want Moana.

And there is a very good chance they also want to run around pretending the backyard is an enormous Pacific Ocean while you stand there wondering how a plastic kiddie pool suddenly became part of the party budget.

That’s where a Moana 2 birthday party gets really fun. The sequel brings Moana and Maui back for another ocean adventure, this time with a new crew and a new journey across the seas. Disney describes the story as Moana traveling into dangerous, long-lost waters after receiving a call from her ancestors.

And if your little girl wants to feel like a princess for the day, well, Moana is already part of Disney Princess. Disney describes her as an independent wayfinder who takes on new challenges and follows her own path. So grab the tropical flowers, find the biggest blue tablecloth you can, and lets get this little island adventure started.

First Stop, The Birthday Invitation

The invitation you shared is a really cute starting point. It has Moana and Maui surrounded by that tropical island scenery, with greenery, flowers, a little bamboo-style sign and the big Disney Moana 2 title. It already feels like you’re looking through a doorway into the island.

The sample invitation says Sarah Is Turning 2, followed by the Saturday celebration details. If your daughter is turning three, change it to three. If she’s turning five, make that number nice and big. This is her party, so let her name and age be one of the first things people notice.

I also really like keeping the invitation wording short for a little kid’s birthday. You dont need a giant paragraph explaining the party. Give everyone the name, age, date, time, address and RSVP information, then let the Moana artwork do the rest.

And what about a cute little line underneath? Try something like Come sail away for a magical birthday adventure or The ocean is calling and we’re celebrating. Now it feels like an invitation to an adventure instead of just another birthday card.

Let’s Make the Name Pop with these Fonts

For a Moana birthday invitation, I’d avoid anything too serious or fancy. This is an ocean adventure for a little kid, not a formal dinner by the sea.

Try fonts such as Baloo 2, Fredoka, Lilita One, Cooper Black, Bubblegum Sans or Luckiest Guy. They have that chunky, playful look that works nicely with colorful tropical artwork.

For the birthday girl’s name, I’d go big. If she is turning two, make that age easy to spot too. You could use one bold font for her name and a softer rounded font for the date and party information underneath.

And dont try to use five different fonts because Canva has so many and suddenly you feel like you need to try all of them. I’ve been there. Pick two. Maybe three if you’re feeling adventurous. Thats enough.

Let’s Make This Invitation Yours

Okay, now lets make it personal. If you’re using Canva, you can customize a birthday invitation by changing the text, adding your own images and adjusting the design. Canva also offers printable birthday invitation templates, so you can create the design digitally and then print physical invitations when you’re finished.

Start with the biggest text. Change Sarah to your daughter’s name and change the age. Then move down through the invitation one piece at a time. Date, time, address, RSVP. I like doing it this way because when you try to change everything at once, thats usually when something gets missed.

For colors, stay with ocean blues, turquoise, aqua, coral, pink, green and warm sandy tones. You dont need every color on the invitation, though. Pick two or three main colors and let the tropical artwork provide the rest.

Okay, Now Let’s Get Them Printed

Here comes the practical part. For this type of invitation, I’d use a 5 × 7 inch invitation card. Thats the card itself. Then use an A7 envelope for mailing it. The A7 envelope is the envelope size, while 5 × 7 inches is the invitation size, so dont accidentally order the wrong thing and end up trying to fold a perfectly good invitation in half.

For the paper, I’d choose 250 gsm matte cardstock, which is around the 80 lb cover range. The matte surface works especially well with the watery blues, tropical greens and colorful flowers because the invitation still feels soft instead of super glossy.

Before you print the whole stack, print one test copy. Put it on the table, step back and look at it like you’re the person receiving it. Is the name spelled correctly? Is the age right? Did you accidentally type Saturday when the party is Sunday? Is the address complete? Check the margins too.

Let’s Turn Your Party Into a Little Island

Now this is where I would have some fun. Start with blue. Blue balloons, blue tablecloth, blue streamers, blue anything you can find without making your house look like a swimming pool store. Add tropical green leaves, pink flowers, coral-colored decorations and a few sandy beige details.

You could make a little Moana Adventure sign for the entrance. Put your daughter’s name underneath it and maybe add a few paper flowers around the edges. Suddenly the kids arent walking into your regular backyard anymore. They’re arriving on the island.

For the food table, use tropical fruit as part of the decoration. Pineapple, watermelon, strawberries, grapes and little fruit skewers can add a lot of color without requiring you to buy a hundred decorations.

What I’d Do for a Moana Birthday

I really like the Moana theme because it gives you so much freedom. You can go full tropical island with flowers and greenery, or keep things simple with blue decorations, a cute cake and a really pretty invitation. Either way, it still feels like a little adventure.

If I were putting this birthday together, I’d probably spend the most time on the invitation and the cake. Those are the two things everyone notices first, and you can make both look really special without turning the entire house upside down.

I also love that Moana 2 gives you more characters to work with. Moana and Maui are the obvious favorites, but adding Simea, Pua, Heihei or the new crew gives you little details that make the party feel more like its own thing.

Most of all, I’d let my daughter have a say in it. If she wants flowers everywhere, okay. If she wants blue balloons covering the ceiling, we’ll figure it out. And if she decides halfway through planning that she actually wants a unicorn birthday instead… well, thats parenting. You just keep sailing.

FAQ:

  • Can I edit this invitation on my phone?

Yes. Canva works smoothly on phones, tablets, and computers, so you can edit the invitation anywhere.

  • What paper works best for printing?

I personally recommend 5×7 A7 matte cardstock paper (250gsm) because it looks clean, premium, and uses less ink.

  • Should I print a test copy first?

Definitely. I usually print one black-ink-only test page first to check spacing and spelling before using colored ink.

  • Can I send the invitation digitally?

Of course. You can save it as PNG or JPG and send it through text, WhatsApp, email, or social media.
